See It Now: A Report on Senator Joseph R. McCarthy

Description

This televised report on Senator McCarthy was broadcast nearly six weeks before the start of the Army-McCarthy hearings. The report was part of the program See It Now. Anchored by Edward R. Murrow, the most respected journalist of the time, the report analyzed Senator McCarthy's own words to examine the climate a fear and suspicion that McCarthy exploded, which became known as McCarthyism.

The program provides students the opportunity to analyze actions of Senator McCarthy through television of the time as the American people saw them. After viewing the broadcast students will respond in writing to questions about it.
