Eisenhower on Little Rock

Description

On September 24, 1957, President Eisenhower address the nation for a little over 13 minutes about the crisis in Little Rock Arkansas where nine African-American students were bared admission to Central High School in defiance of the Supreme Court order in Brown v. Board of Education. In his address, Eisenhower explains his reasons for sending the 101st Airborne to Little Rock.

This primary source video provides students the opportunity to evaluate Eisenhower's reasons for themselves. After viewing the address students are to respond to a writing prompt.
